Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) is seeking an experienced Component Engineer to manage component life cycle and cross-identification for electrical and electromechanical components used in rugged embedded circuit card assemblies.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Diminishing manufacturing sources and material shortages (DMSMS) through risk assessment
  • Reviewing and acting on SiliconExpert, IHS PCNalert, and GIDEP component life cycle status notifications
  • Identifying and proposing suitable component crosses
  • Identifying and recommending common component packages
  • Interpreting IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 requirements related to component suitability
  • Reviewing component lead finishes and environmental suitability
  • Performing component assessment on bill of materials as requested
  • Other component-related tasks as outlined by the manager

Secondary responsibilities may include:

  • Qualification of new components given set specified critical parameters
  • Creating and managing schematic and PCB component libraries and databases
  • Analyzing components and X-ES products to improve reliability
  • Creating and maintaining reliability processes and documentation

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field, or an Associate’s degree in Electronics with 3 years of component engineering experience
  • Computer proficiency and a high level of attention to detail
  • Prior experience in component life cycle management
  • Familiarity with any of the following is a plus: PADS PCB, DxDesigner and SiliconExpert, GIDEP, and IHS PCNalert
  • Previous experience with IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 is preferred
