Help Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) maintain its core strength of engineering excellence. Gain hands-on experience working with the advanced technologies at the boundary between the chip and the board while making direct contributions to product development. We’re seeking an Engineering Co-Op to analyze challenging signal integrity issues using their skills in circuits, electromagnetics, and signal processing. The individual will work within a small team of signal integrity engineers to solve problems with high-speed signals in the design phase using simulation as well as post-fabrication in the lab.
This position is full-time and in-person at our Verona, WI facility for January–August of 2025. This typically requires students to take a semester off of school to accommodate.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- Working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- Self-motivated and capable of meeting project deadlines with minimal supervision
- Strong troubleshooting skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Understanding transmission line theory
- Experience with analysis tools such as HyperLynx, HSPICE, Sigrity, or HFSS
- Hands-on oscilloscope and VNA experience
- Familiarity with printed circuit board design
- Comfortable with Python programming

- How to simulate a memory bus using an EDA tool
- How to analyze the latest PCI Express protocol with signal equalization
- How to create behavioral models for the latest microprocessors
- How to interpret an S-Parameters chart
- How to solder probe tips and capture waveforms with an oscilloscope
- How to optimize via impedance using a 3D Full-Wave Solver
