Altitude Testing

For products that need to operate while airborne, altitude testing is essential to simulate the effects of low pressures and expose problems that manifest at high altitudes, such as warping, arcing, and overheating.

X-ES engineers perform altitude tests on-site with a Thermotron FA-35-CHM-LN2 chamber, which can simulate altitudes of up to 100,000 ft. Altitude tests can be carried out with a variety of temperature and/or humidity settings to simulate real-world environments.

Our environmental testing lab also has a decompression tank that was designed in-house. While this tank is used primarily for rapid decompression testing, it can also be pressurized to simulate environments below sea level.

Altitude Tests

X-ES engineers have experience performing the following tests on-site for system- and board-level qualification efforts:

  • MIL-STD-810 Rapid Decompression Overpressure
  • DO-160 Rapid Decompression Overpressure
  • MIL-STD-810 Decompression
  • DO-160 Overpressure
  • MIL-STD-810 Altitude
  • DO-160 Altitude
