Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) is looking for a skilled rework technician to perform surface-mount soldering related to the assembly and repair of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs). Ideal candidates will have prior soldering experience and outstanding attention to detail. This is a first-shift position with flexible scheduling, paid training, and good benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect and identify defects on PCBAs and determine the appropriate repair or rework process
  • Perform rework on X-ES product according to released specifications
  • Conduct rework and repair processes such as surface-mount technology (SMT) rework, through-hole rework, and touch-up of solder joints using soldering iron, hot air, and other hand tools
  • Utilize microscope and soldering equipment to add or remove small components on printed circuit boards, solder wires, and PCB repair
  • Read and interpret work instructions, engineering drawings, and schematics to understand the assembly process and identify defects
  • Conduct visual inspections to ensure the quality and integrity of the repaired or reworked PCBAs
  • Maintain accurate records of rework activities and report any issues or discrepancies to the supervisor
  • Adhere to company practices regarding safety and control of electrostatic discharge (ESD)
  • Collaborate with other technicians and production staff to ensure timely completion of work orders and meet production goals

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited high school (or valid General Educational Development certificate)
  • Prior experience or course work in soldering electronic components required
  • Computer proficiency and a high level of organization with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently
  • Good hand dexterity and coordination is necessary, as products and components are typically very small
  • Ability to work onsite from our facility located at 9901 Silicon Prairie Parkway in Verona, WI

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in electronics or equivalent work experience is preferred
  • Experience with surface-mount soldering is preferred
  • Certification or knowledge of IPC-610 and J-STD-001 is a plus
  • General computer proficiency and a high level of attention to detail
