Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) Ships XPedite5102: First XMC Module hosting NXP MPC8640D Processor

Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) introduces XPedite5102, a high-performance short form XMC module targeting NXP’s (formerly Freescale) MPC8640D processor. This card comes standard with PCI Express support and Gigabit Ethernet. XPedite5102 is an optimal solution for military customers that require a boost in system performance with AltiVec / e600 core processing or high-end general computing applications.

XPedite5102, with the NXP MPC8640D embedded PowerPC dual e600 cores running at up to 1.067 GHz, includes:

  • Two channels of up to 4 GB of DDR2-533 SDRAM
  • Up to 4 GB of NAND flash and 256 MB of NOR flash
  • Rear I/O includes:
    • Two Gigabit Ethernet ports
    • GPIO
    • Two RS-232/485 serial ports
  • In-house X-ES operating system support includes:
    • Green Hills INTEGRITY Board Support Package (BSP)
    • Wind River VxWorks BSP
    • QNX Neutrino BSP
    • Linux BSP
  • Guaranteed 4-hour technical response to all hardware and software questions

“Multiple customers asked for a compact MPC8640D solution and XPedite5102 provides that perfect mix of size, performance, and I/O,” states Bret Farnum, Vice President of Sales. “We have seen customers double their XMC slot processor performance by using this module,” adds Farnum.

Pricing and Availability – XPedite5102 is shipping today. Pricing starts at $6,995 for early access hardware and will drop to $5,895 in April. Discounts are available based on memory configuration, environmental requirements, and volume purchases.
