Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join the Automated Test Software team. As a member of the Automated Test Software team, you will be involved in a wide range of activities related to developing automated testing for our rugged, embedded products. This role offers a unique mix of software development, low-level hardware interaction, debug, and testing. You will be responsible for software that runs complex testing on a wide range of products, from bit-banging JTAG to orchestrating elaborate thermal profiles.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop software in an Agile-based model utilizing best practices in Python and C languages
  • Manage software deployment and update procedures for Raspberry Pi and other embedded platforms
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure including servers and software libraries used throughout the company
  • Develop, deploy, and manage fully automated test suites for the production of embedded computer products
  • Work with a wide range of technologies, interfaces, and designs that push the boundaries of testing

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum of three years of related technical experience
  • Computer proficiency and a high level of organization with strong attention to detail
  • Highly self-motivated in order to drive projects forward, with strong organizational skills and ability to meet project deadlines
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently
  • Ability to work onsite from our facility located at 9901 Silicon Prairie Parkway in Verona, WI

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Python 3
  • Knowledge of C programming
  • Experience designing and writing automated test suites
  • Experience with either Python asynchronous programming or Python test frameworks
  • Experience debugging and troubleshooting embedded systems
  • Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps environments, such as Gitlab and Docker
  • Knowledge of tools, such as in-circuit debugging, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
  • Familiarity with standard interfaces like DDR, PCIe, SATA, USB, I²C, and Ethernet
  • Comfortable reading electrical schematics and understanding basic circuits
