Extreme Engineering Solutions, Inc. (X-ES) Announces XCalibur1331: A 6U VME Module Featuring NXP MPC8640D Processor

Extreme Engineering Solutions is shipping XCalibur1331, a high-performance, conduction- or air-cooled, 6U VME solution featuring NXP’s (formerly Freescale) dual-core MPC8640D processor. The XCalibur1331 is ideal for ruggedized systems requiring high bandwidth processing and low power consumption. The MPC8640D delivers enhanced performance with AltiVec™ technology and IEEE dual-precision Floating-Point.

XCalibur1331 features include:

  • NXP (formerly Freescale) MPC8640D processor with dual PowerPC e600 cores up to 1.25 GHz
  • Two channels of up to 4 GB of DDR2-533 ECC Memory with ECC
  • Up to 4 GB of NAND flash and 256 MB of NOR flash, with redundancy
  • Two XMC/PrPMC slots
  • Four Gigabit Ethernet ports
  • Three USB 2.0 ports
  • One SATA 3 Gb/s port
  • 2eSST VME interface
  • In-house X-ES operating system support includes:
    • Green Hills INTEGRITY Board Support Package (BSP)
    • Wind River VxWorks BSP
    • QNX Neutrino BSP
    • Linux LSP
  • Guaranteed 4-hour technical response to all hardware and software questions

XCalibur1331 is a wonderful platform for military, industrial and communication customers targeting high end PowerPC processors.
