Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) Migrates Multi-Port Serial Products to Conduction–Cooled PMC for High-End Military Requirements.

Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) has expanded their acclaimed XPort multi-protocol serial products into a conduction-cooled PMC (ccPMC) form factor with the immediate release of the XPort1003. Supporting extended temperatures from -55°C to +85°C and severe shock (OS2) and vibration (V3) requirements, XPort1003 features include:

  • Conduction-Cooled PMC form factor
  • Four (4) SCC interfaces provided by NXP (formerly Freescale) MPC8270 processor
  • 32 MB of ECC SDRAM
  • 3.3 V and 5 V compatible PCI interface
  • Software selectable for DCE or DTE operation
  • Rear panel I/O via XPort2011 for use in-lab prior to deployment
  • Supports multiple serial interface standards:
    • RS-232
    • RS-422
    • RS-423
    • RS-485
    • MIL-STD-188-114 Balanced
    • MIL-STD-188-114 Unbalanced Type 1 and 2
  • Supports multiple serial protocols:
    • HDLC
    • UART
    • Transparent
    • BISYNC
  • Supports multiple encoding schemes:
    • NRZ
    • NRZI
    • FM0
    • FM1
    • Manchester
    • Differential Manchester
  • In-house X-ES Driver support for Linux, WindRiver VxWorks, Green Hills INTEGRITY, and Windows NT/2000/XP software
  • Guaranteed 4-hour response to all hardware and software technical questions

“Customers transferring from commercial to conduction cooled requirements demanded the migration path offered with XPort1003,” states Bret Farnum, VP of Sales for Extreme Engineering. “The hardware and software commonality make this migration painless and reduces customer time-to-market and time to revenue,” adds Farnum.
