Testing and Qualification
Environmental and EMI Testing Capabilities
X-ES has extensive experience performing environmental, electrical, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing with our on-site equipment, as well as at off-site testing laboratories. Some of the standards that we have experience testing for compliance to as part of a system- and/or board-level qualification effort include MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, and DO-160.
Reducing project risk with on-site testing
- Schedule - X-ES has full control over the scheduling of the equipment, tests, and personnel.
- Reduced debug time with on-site software and hardware engineering personnel.
- Allow for quick pre-qualification testing to determine design capabilities and limitations
The design, development, and testing of X-ES products can take place at the same facility. During testing, test engineers have direct access to the engineers that designed the product. This is invaluable as it provides a 360 degree feedback loop between the design and test engineers. This feedback loop is verification of simulation and design data. This feedback has allowed X-ES to achieve a high degree of confidence in its simulation data and designs. X-ES is continually striving to improve this extremely important link between design and verification.
Environmental and EMI Pre-Qualification Testing
X-ES is a strong proponent of performing preliminary qualification testing on our designs. We have the necessary equipment located on-site to perform a wide variety of qualification and prequalification tests. For many new designs, prequalification can save cost and reduce the overall schedule because issues with the design can be found and fixed before the formal qualification takes place, potentially resulting in a significant reduction in the overall cost and time of formal qualification. Before prequalification testing takes place, we work with the customer to choose a specific set of environmental and EMI tests that will put the design at most risk of failing. The prequalification testing validates performance in these areas, as compared to expectations and can also be a step further to define the limits of what the design can achieve. This helps to empirically define the margins between the requirements and the capabilities of the design, which are difficult to assess during a formal qualification.
Custom Test Requirements
In addition to performing testing based on standard specifications, X-ES can perform testing based on non-standard requirements as determined by our customers' applications.
